The Ardent Swarm by Yamen Manai
My rating: 4.8 of 5 stars
The Ardent Swarm is a short, but emotional and evocative read. A deeply poignant story with global interconnections and a series of themes – both environmental and socio-economic – Manai’s tale resonates all the more during our unsettled times. I described it as a charmingly engaging read. A perfect first of the year milestone.
Intriguingly, my experience with translations lately is stunningly positive. I presume that the translator is doing a particularly fine job of capturing the author’s original creation and possibly also intention but have to wonder if that additional creative pass is synthesising into something even better if not just special?
