O’Neil a long time homebrewer who came to brewing from the financial sector. Working with BNY Mellon in the US he experienced first-hand the burgeoning craft beer sector there and on return to Ireland he and his brothers were inspired to fill a perceived gap in the Irish market for stronger flavoured hop forward beers that had yet to become a feature in the Irish market. O’Brother Brewing has consistently grown since 2014 and current expansion plans include an ambitious taproom, visitor centre and restaurant at a new location at the foot of the Sugarloaf Mountain.
